Job summary

McLaren Health Care is seeking a Per Diem Medical Assistant/Patient Care Tech to provide comprehensive patient care and top-notch service across physician practices. You will perform a range of tasks from clinical procedures to patient registration and insurance verification, ensuring smooth daily operations.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent with six months of relevant experience, or completion of approved medical programs, plus BLS within six months for Rural Health clinics.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with six months experience as a medical assistant or patient care tech.
• Alternatively, completion of one of the programs: medical assistant, EMT, nurse assistant, LPN, armed services medic, or patient care technician.
• For Rural Health Designation clinics, BLS certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent patient care by performing or assisting in medical procedures and tests, including vital signs, injections, and venipuncture.
• Greet patients and deliver excellent customer service; answer the phone and direct callers as appropriate.
• Register patients, schedule appointments, collect insurance co-pays and deductibles, verify insurance, and record financial activity.
• Account for all transactions completed on each shift.

Education

High school diploma + 6 months medical assistant/patient care tech experience

High school diploma + completion of listed programs (medical assistant, EMT, nurse assistant, LPN, armed services medic, patient care technician)

BLS within 6 months for Rural Health Designation clinics (MHC approved providers)

Job description

Under general supervision, and according to established policies and procedures, will provide excellent patient care by performing or assisting in a variety of medical procedures and tests to assist in the examination and treatment of patients, including but not limited to vital signs, procedures, various treatment, administering injections and venipuncture. Provides excellent customer service by greeting patients, answering the phone and directing the caller as appropriate. Performs duties across all physician practices, patient registration, scheduling appointments, collecting insurance co-pays and deductibles, insurance verification, records financial activity and accounts for all transactions completed on each shift.

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent and six months experience as a medical assistant or patient care tech.

OR

• High school diploma or equivalent and completion of one of the following programs: medical assistant, emergency medical technician, nurse assistant, licensed practical nurse, armed services medic or patient care technician.
• For clinics with the Rural Health Designation, Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), and Canadian equivalents, (MHC approved providers for the resuscitation certification) is required within 6 months of hire
