Job summary

Maricopa County Department of Public Health in Mesa, AZ is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinicians in the Community Health & Records Services Division. You will prepare patients, perform venipuncture, administer immunizations, and take histories to assist clinicians in evaluating patients and preventing disease spread.

Qualifications

• Certificate of completion from an accredited Health Care Training Program as a Medical Assistant.
• High School diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for appointments by accompanying them to the examining room and facilitating flow.
• Perform routine medical tasks such as drawing blood, administering injections, and preparing patients for examinations.
• Document patient care in electronic medical records per regulations and policies.
• Provide basic patient care as directed by the clinician and within your license/certification.
• Assist providers with examinations and ordering diagnostic tests or treatments.
• Maintain clean, stocked exam rooms and ensure readiness for patient flow.
• Educate patients by providing handouts and after-visit summaries as instructed.
• Record lab results and ensure they are filed with the patient’s chart.
