Job Description for Medical Assistant at UAMS

The Medical Assistant (MA) works under the direct supervision of the clinic physician to assist in patient examination and treatment. Responsibilities include conducting patient interviews, recording vital signs, drawing blood, preparing specimens for lab analysis, and possibly performing EKGs. The MA also prepares treatment rooms, stocks supplies, and may handle administrative tasks such as scheduling and registration.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED and successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Preferred Qualifications: Registered or Certified Medical Assistant, one year of experience, BLS (CPR) certification, and ability to perform point of care testing and blood collection.

Responsibilities

• Record patient history and vital signs.
