Responsibilities

• Perform Department of Transportation (DOT) and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing
• Prepare patients for physical examinations, including vital signs and ancillary testing (vaccines, injections, phlebotomy, PFTs, audiograms, respirator fit testing)
• Perform rapid screening tests (influenza, strep, mono, glucose, etc.)
• Assist providers during examination and treatment
• Perform routine medical procedures as ordered by the clinician and triage emergent patients
• Assist with procedure setup and injury care
• Apply bandages, dressings, and splints as ordered
• Dispense medications and DME according to regulations
• Conduct quality assurance activities on equipment and testing processes
• Maintain supplies, clean rooms, and stock exam rooms
• Operate and calibrate medical devices, keeping records
• Notify supervisor of equipment issues or supply needs
• Assist with patient flow and volume management
• Inform patients of wait times
• Handle clerical tasks, record keeping, and documentation accurately
• Perform front office duties: greeting patients, check-in/out, answering calls, distributing results
• Follow HIPAA and safety guidelines
• Attend staff meetings and maintain facility cleanliness
• Complete ongoing training and certifications

Qualifications

• Education: Vocational/Technical/Business School graduate, or at least one year of patient care experience, or military medical experience (must meet state credentials)
• Experience: Minimum six months in medical assisting, knowledge of procedures and terminology, occupational medicine knowledge preferred
• Skills: Customer service, confidentiality, communication, teamwork, and proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Certifications: Required for Drug Screen Collection, Breath Alcohol, Hair and Oral Fluids Collection, among others
