Job summary

Physicians Care in Dayton, TN, is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to join our urgent care and occupational health team. You will perform clinical care, including vital signs, histories, and assisting with X-ray testing under provider supervision.

The role includes 36-40 hour weekly shifts (full-time) with rotating weekday hours and weekend coverage, plus benefits and opportunities for continuing education. Prior CMA certification is preferred, and BLS is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• BLS Certification.
• Certified Medical Assistant is preferred.
• Experience performing X-Rays is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and explain next steps and wait times.
• Document vital signs, histories, medications, allergies, and other pertinent details.
• Perform phlebotomy and other basic clinical procedures as trained.
• Shoot and position X-Rays safely with proper protection.
• Support front desk during check-in and check-out as needed.
• Prepare patients for provider evaluation and assist with transfers and procedures.
• Ensure accurate visit documentation and maintain clean, stocked exam rooms.
• Adhere to infection control, safety, and patient confidentiality standards.

Physicians Care is looking for experienced Medical Assistants to join our team in Dayton, TN.

JOB SUMMARY

The Medical Assistant provides clinical care to patients in urgent care, occupational health, and workers’ compensation settings. Responsibilities include initial evaluations, x-ray testing, and preparing patients for provider evaluation by recording histories, vital signs, and documentation while recognizing acuity levels for appropriate intervention.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not intended to be all inclusive. Other duties may be assigned.

• Greet patients promptly and provide clear communication about next steps and wait times
• Offer solutions to patient concerns and seek help in emergent or hazardous situations
• Ensure timely follow-up for lab and x-ray results; execute follow-up calls with urgency
• Support front desk staff with check-in and check-out procedures when needed
• Accurately document vital signs, histories, medications, allergies, and other pertinent details
• Assist with patient transfers, procedures, and lab work under provider supervision
• Prepare and shoot X-Rays, ensuring proper positioning, safety, radiation protection, and shielding
• Complete all required visit documentation and maintain stocked, clean exam rooms
• Adhere to infection control, safety, and patient confidentiality standards
• Perform phlebotomy, injections, and other clinical procedures as trained and directed

WHAT'S THE SCHEDULE?

Full-time team members work a rotating 36-40 hour/week schedule, consisting of 12-hour weekday shifts and every-other weekend. Our PRN (per diem) team members are scheduled on an as-needed basis.

WHAT'S REQUIRED?

• High school diploma or equivalent
• BLS Certification
• Certified Medical Assistant is preferred
• Experience performing X-Rays is desirable
