Job summary

VIPcare in Port Charlotte, FL is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinicians in delivering safe, high-quality care to patients 65+. Working under physicians and PAs, you will prepare patients, assist during visits, and support front office operations.

You will perform clinical procedures, document in EMR, manage vital signs, patient education, and coordinate care with preventive services and AWVs. The role requires compassion, attention to detail, and a commitment to Better Health outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients and prepare them for provider examinations by obtaining and documenting patient history, chief complaint, current medications, allergies, medical history, surgical history, family history, social history, preventive care information in the EMR.
• Measure and document vital signs and other clinical observations.
• Prepare patients and examination rooms for provider visits.
• Assist providers during examinations, treatments, and in-office procedures.
• Explain provider instructions, treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care to patients.
• Provide compassionate, professional service that promotes a positive patient experience.
• Administer medications and perform treatments as directed by the provider and within state regulations.
• Assist with wound care, dressing changes, and other clinical procedures.
• Initiate and monitor IV infusions when trained and permitted by state regulations.
• Perform phlebotomy and prepare specimens for laboratory testing.
• Carry out CLIA-waived laboratory testing and in-office diagnostic tests such as EKGs, vision screenings, and spirometry.
• Complete documentation of encounters, treatments, results, and communications in the EMR.
• Coordinate transitional care outreach and preventive care activities, including AWVs and HRAs.
• Manage front office tasks including calls, greetings, scheduling, registrations, referrals, and med refills.
• Monitor inventory of medical supplies and pharmaceuticals.
