Job summary

Cherry Health in Grand Rapids, MI, seeks a Medical Assistant in Family Medicine to support providers and act as a key member of the care team. You will prepare charts, manage patient flow, take vital signs, and assist with examinations and procedures in a busy outpatient setting.

The role requires completion of an accredited Medical Assisting program and certification options such as CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, ARMA, or NRCMA. 1–2 years of experience is preferred; travel between sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting program.
• Certification options listed above.
• 1–2 years of previous medical assisting experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to perform routine healthcare tasks and enter data in the EHR.

Responsibilities

• Prepare charts and gather patient information; record in the EHR.
• Manage clinic flow by greeting patients and directing to exam rooms.
• Take vital signs and complete screening tests as required.
• Assist providers with examinations and procedures; clean up afterward.
• Implement orders including blood draws, ECGs, labs, dressings and routine testing; document results.
• Prepare specimens and assist with transportation as needed.
• May administer injections following guidelines; vaccine program management.
• May precept MA apprentices, externs, or new employees.
