Job summary

Valor Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant for our Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in New Braunfels, TX. You will provide prescribed medical treatment and patient care under physician guidance, collaborating with the PACT team to develop patient care plans.

This full-time role requires 2+ years MA experience in primary/ambulatory settings, BLS certification, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• Diploma or certificate program approved by the state; phlebotomy certification preferred.
• Minimum two years’ MA experience in primary or ambulatory care; government healthcare setting preferred.
• Maintain VA credentialing and valid unrestricted license per VA contract.
• Current BLS certification; ACLS as required by contract.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English; strong computer/EMR skills.
• Energetic, optimistic demeanor with excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Safety sensitive position and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Actively assists with patient care, examinations, and ancillary tests.
• Schedule clinic appointments and manage related PCMM assignments and wait lists.
• Answer phones and relay messages in a timely manner.
• Prepare and organize patient check-in and medication lists for the next day.
• Collect lab specimens (urine, blood, sputum) for testing.
• Operate ECG and other diagnostic equipment for routine tests and treatments.
• Ensure compliance with OIG/JC/EOC oversight and lab-related standards.
• Maintain focus on VA guideline-based clinical outcomes.
• Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, and staff.
• Participate in outreach events to support enrollment initiatives.
• Support patient enrollment and retention in appointments and visits.
• Embrace new clinical or operational initiatives as they arise.
