Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Natick, MA is seeking a 40-hour, full-time Medical Assistant to support a growing, patient-centered primary care team. This on-site role runs Monday through Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm, and focuses on delivering compassionate patient care and smooth clinical operations.

The ideal candidate will have completed a Medical Assistant training program or 1+ year of MA experience, with MA certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Associate's Degree in Medical Assisting preferred.
• One year of Medical Assistant experience required or preferred.
• National MA certification (AAMA, AMT, NHA, or NCCT) preferred.
• BLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet and prepare patients for exams and assist in examination rooms.

• Explain procedures, medications, and instructions to patients; provide education materials.
• Perform basic office duties and act as liaison with other departments.
• Collect specimens and perform phlebotomy if competent.

Job Summary

Join a growing, patient-centered primary care team in Natick! As our practice expands, we're seeking a 40-hour, full-time Medical Assistant who is passionate about delivering exceptional care and creating a positive patient experience. Located at 307 West Central Street in Natick, MA, our practice offers a full range of primary care services - from routine check-ups and health screenings to complex diagnostic evaluation and treatment. This role will be on-site Monday through Friday 8:00am-4:30pm.

Our Medical Assistants play an integral part in the operations of our community-based physician practices. Dedicated to clinical support, the Medical Assistant ensures a smooth patient flow within the practice and assists in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of physician or advanced practitioner.

The ideal candidate will have completed a Medical Assistant training program or possess at least one year of professional Medical Assistant experience and hold a national MA certification (AAMA, AMT, NHA, or NCCT).

Summary

The role supports healthcare teams by assisting with both clinical and non-clinical patient services under the direction of healthcare providers. Key responsibilities include taking vital signs, documenting patient information, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow. This role involves direct interaction with patients to ensure their comfort and address concerns, as well as collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff to facilitate efficient care.

Essential Functions

• Assists junior Medical Assistants with day-to-day questions and responsibilities and helps facilitate their learning by participating in onboarding training.
• Show patients to examination rooms, prepare necessary equipment for healthcare providers, and interview patients to obtain medical information, measure their vital signs, weight, and height, and record information in the patient's medical record.
• Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions to patients, ordering and organizing educational materials to reinforce patient education.
• Perform general office duties, such as answering phones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms, while acting as a liaison with other departments and advocating for patients with a positive customer service approach.
• Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log them, and prepare them for testing; perform phlebotomy if competence is demonstrated.
• Maintains inventory of immunizations and check expiration dates.
• Provides immunizations (as applicable) which requires certification or 3 years of experience administering a vaccine and supervision of a provider.
• Responsible for improving appropriate departmental quality initiatives, such as two patient identifiers and hand hygiene.
