Job summary

The Gore Medical Group in Poway, CA is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Assistant to support clinicians and engage patients, with a mix of clinical and administrative duties.

Responsibilities include assisting with examinations, preparing rooms, taking vital signs, basic lab tests, patient communications, prior authorizations, scheduling, and maintaining medical records; part-time schedule Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays 8 AM to 5 PM.

Qualifications

• Completion of a medical assistant program with at least 1-2 years of primary care experience.
• Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures.
• Prepare and maintain examination rooms and medical equipment.
• Take patient histories, vital signs, and assist with patient inquiries.
• Administer medications and perform basic lab tests as directed.
• Perform basic patient care tasks, including taking vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.
• Administer medications and vaccines under the supervision of a licensed provider.
• Conduct routine diagnostic tests, including urine tests and simple swabs (e.g., flu and COVID-19).
• Contact patients for follow-ups, test results, appointment reminders, and other care coordination needs.
• Assist with prior authorization requests by gathering necessary documentation and communicating with insurance providers.
• Schedule patient appointments and manage medical records.
• Ensure compliance with all safety and health regulations.
• Provide exceptional customer service to patients and their families.
