Job summary

Valley Health is seeking a Medical Assistant for Nursing Float on a per diem basis in Winchester, VA. The role supports physicians and advanced practice clinicians, performing MA tasks and educating patients.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED and either one year of clinical experience or a MA certificate, plus BLS certification before orientation. Training in specialty-specific assisting is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• One year of experience in a clinical setting or completion of a Medical Assistant certification program required.
• BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart Association required prior to orientation.
• Training in specialty-specific assisting desired.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, performs Medical Assistant tasks and educates patients.
• Assesses patient needs and documents clinical information.
• Provides care using the nursing process and communicates with the care team.

Pay Range

$18.96 - $25.59

Job Description

Under the supervision of the physician or advanced practice clinician (NP or PA), performs Medical Assistant specific tasks, and assesses and educates patients.

Education

High School Diploma or GED required

Experience

One year of experience in a clinical setting or completion of a Medical Assistant certification program required

Training

Training in specialty-specific assisting desired

Certification & Licensure

BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart ‘Healthcare Provider’ (HCP) - AHA approved required. New hires must have American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification prior to completion of orientation.

Qualifications

Must possess good communication skills. Competent to provide care to patients utilizing the nursing process. Knowledge of the basic principles of human growth and development. Competent to successfully interact with patients according to their special needs which may apply, based on age of the patient served.
