Position Summary

The Medical Assistant (Per Diem) acts as a patient care coordinator and advocate, maintaining clinical supplies, documentation, and ensuring an optimal patient flow and experience, following OSHA/WISHA and other compliance guidelines.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in providing direct patient care, including preparing exam rooms, sterilizing instruments, positioning patients, collecting specimens, and obtaining vitals and history.
  • Assist providers during procedures, maintaining aseptic technique and positioning patients appropriately.
  • Handle provider instruments and report test results timely.
  • Document all encounters accurately in electronic records.
  • Perform phone triage, post-op calls, and respond to messages within 24 hours.
  • Coordinate care and diagnostic testing with other facilities.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies.
  • Support daily team duties and special tasks as assigned.
Education/Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical Assistant Program certification preferred but not required; training provided.
  • Current Washington State Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
  • 1-2 years' experience in a medical office preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and medications.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records is a plus.
  • Computer skills, including data entry.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, patience, compassion, and empathy.
  • Adherence to safety, confidentiality, and risk management procedures.
  • Efficient use of time, attention to detail, and dependability.
  • Teamwork, adaptability, continuous learning, and self-motivation.
  • Strong communication, organization, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations professionally.
