Job summary

Scripps Health is hiring for a Clinical Support role at Scripps Coastal Medical Center - Hillcrest. This full-time position typically runs Monday–Friday 8:30am–5:30pm, with occasional Saturday morning shifts; located in San Diego's Hillcrest area.

Duties include rooming patients, taking vitals, assisting with procedures, clinic prep, documenting in EPIC, scheduling, vaccine administration and basic registration.

Qualifications

• Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program, or Medical Assistance Certification, or a minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsman.
• Detail oriented.
• Experience administering vaccines.

Responsibilities

• Room patients, check vitals, assisting with procedures.
• Clinic prep assisting with Provider specific protocols.
• Maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment.
• Organizes and performs patient care services that support the physician's practice.
• Relaying instructions from the physician to the patient or authorized person.
• Collecting patient data in person and by phone.
• Documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's review.
• Administering medications specifically directed by the physician.
• Scheduling of appointments and procedures.
• Complete and accurate message taking.
• Routing messages to the appropriate area for direction.
• Order and referral entry, acquisition of pre-certifications.
• Setting up of cases in EPIC plus basic registration and updating of demographics.

This is a benefited, full time position generally working Monday-Friday from 8:30am-5:30pm. The occasional Saturday shift (about once every couple of months) from 8am-12pm is required. Located at Scripps Coastal in Hillcrest.

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:

Required Certification/Registration:

• BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:

• MA in an outpatient setting, preferably Pediatrics
