Job summary

Scripps Health in La Jolla is seeking a Medical Assistant to support cardiology teams at the Anderson Medical Pavilion. The role is full-time with benefits and a daytime schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with no weekends or evenings.

The position will float between cardiology specialties as needed. Responsibilities include rooming patients, taking vitals, assisting with provider protocols, documenting in EPIC, scheduling procedures, and maintaining a safe, organized

Qualifications

• Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program or a minimum of two years of experience as a Military Corpsman or Medical Assistant Certification
• BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Responsibilities

• Rooming patients and checking vitals
• Clinic prep assisting with Provider specific protocols
• Maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment
• Organizes and performs patient care services that support the physician's practice
• Relaying instructions from the physician to the patient or authorized person
• Collecting patient data in person and by phone
• Documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's review
• Administering medications specifically directed by the physician
• Scheduling of appointments and procedures
• Complete and accurate message taking
• Routing messages to the appropriate area for direction
• Order and referral entry, acquisition of pre-certifications
• Setting up of cases in EPIC plus basic registration and updating of demographics

This is a full-time, benefitted position generally working 8-hour day shifts Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The position is located at the Anderson Medical Pavilion in La Jolla and is expected to float between the cardiology specialties within that site as needed. No weekends or evenings are required.
