Job summary

University of Florida Jacksonville Physicians, Inc. is seeking a multi-skilled medical assistant to support administrative and clinical tasks under the supervision of a licensed physician in Jacksonville.

The role includes taking vital signs, preparing patients for care, documenting in EMR or paper records, and assisting with examinations and treatments. A CMA and BLS are required; high school diploma is needed.

Qualifications

• CMA certification required or within 6 months of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire.
• Medical Terminology Certificate preferred at time of hire.
• MA program accreditation by NCCA or national/state medical association required/recognized.

Responsibilities

• Take patient's vital signs and prepare for provider care.
• Document entries in medical records with signature, date and time.
• Administer medications under physician supervision.
• Observe/report signs, collect routine lab specimens as directed.
• Administer basic first aid.
• Participate in performance improvement projects.
• Work as an active care team member in coordinating patient care.

Responsibilities

Job Requirement:

• Take patient's vital signs. Prepare patients for the provider's care. Assist with patient examinations or treatments.
• Correctly document all entries in the medical record, either electronic or hard copy, to include signature, date and time.
• Administer medication as directed by and under the direct supervision of licensed physician.
• Observe and report patients' signs or symptoms. Collect routine laboratory specimens as directed by the provider.
• Administer basic first aid.
• Participates in performance improvement projects.
• Participates as an active care team member in the coordination of patient care.
• Provides a standard of excellence as it relates to customer service for patients, staff members, and other customers

Qualifications

Qualification:

Experience Requirements

• 1-year - Medical assistant – preferred
• 2– 4 years clerical/customer service experience, ideally in a health care related industry - preferred
• 1-year experience with third party payors, and computer experience for imputing data and reviewing - preferred

Certification/Licensure Requirements

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required - or within 6 months
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required - at time of hire- American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• Medical Terminology Certificate preferred - at time of hire
• A requirement of having completed an MA program that is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies, a national or state medical association, or an agency approved by the board

Education Requirements

• High School Diploma / GED Required at time of hire
