Job summary

NorthShore University HealthSystem in Glenview, IL is seeking a Medical Assistant/Patient Support Assistant. The role supports physician practice front office operations with patient check-in/out, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and basic vitals.

The position is per diem with hours Monday-Friday and rotating shifts. CPR certification is required and prior medical office experience is preferred. Training is provided on site to ensure quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program is preferred but not required.
• CPR certification through the American Heart Association is required.

• Collect co-payments.
• Complete patient registration.
• Provide front office support.
• Check in and check out patients.
• Verify insurances.
• Greet patients and escort to exam room.
• Document vital signs and medical information.
• Phlebotomy and injections may be required.

Hourly Pay Range: $20.29 - $29.42 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:

• Position: Medical Assistant/Patient Support Assistant
• Location: Glenview, IL
• Full Time/Part Time: Per Diem
• Hours: Monday-Friday, rotating shift, 7:30am-4p,8-4:30p and 9-5:30p
• Required Travel: Travel to other sites based upon department need

What you will do:

• Answer phones
• Schedule appointments
• Collect co-payments
• Complete patient registration
• Provide other administrative support to the physician practice
• Check in and check out patient
• Verify insurances
• Greet patients and escort them to exam room
• Document vital signs, allergies, medications and reason for office visit
• Provide front office support as needed
• Perform basic vitals like BP, height and weight
• Phlebotomy and injections may be required

What you will need:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent work experience is required. Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program is preferred, but not required.
• Certification: CPR certification through the American Heart Association required; Medical Assistant Certification (AMT or AAMA) is preferred, but not required.
• Experience: One year of work experience required, previous experience working in a medical office (or related field) is preferred. On the job training is provided for those who do not have previous medical assistant training or experience.
