SouthStar is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our patient-centered team in Monroe, LA. You’ll prepare patients, record vital signs, and support exam procedures in a clinic setting.

Responsibilities include room preparation, injections, phlebotomy, lab specimen handling, documentation in EMR, scheduling, patient instruction, and cross-functional collaboration. Must have high school diploma; MA certification preferred; BLS required; 1 year experience preferred.

Formación

• Education: High school graduate or equivalent is required.
• Certification: Current Medical Assistant certification from one of the listed programs is preferred; current BLS certification is required.
• Experience: A minimum of one year of relevant experience is preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Prepare patients for examination, record vital signs and history, and provide treatment as applicable.
• Prepares exam/treatment rooms; select, set up, sterilize, and maintain medical supplies and equipment for procedures.
• Prepare and administer injections, change dressings, and facilitate wound management under providers orders.
• Collect blood, tissue, and other laboratory specimens through routine in-house testing procedures, analyze and prepare for testing, log results, and perform lab call-backs.
• Document basic patient care and procedures, utilizing appropriate forms and electronic medical records.
• Schedule patients for tests, initial, and follow-up appointments if applicable in care setting.
• Instructs patients and family regarding treatment and medication instructions.
• Collaborate, take direction, and initiate actions to ensure seamless patient care
• Phlebotomy
• Perform opening/closing clinic duties and patient call backs
• Perform other duties as assigned
