Job summary

Northern Nevada HOPES is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patients and providers in delivering high-quality care in a mission-driven setting. The MA will engage patients, perform rooming, vitals, and documentation, and assist with injections, vaccines, and care coordination under supervision.

The role includes administrative support, EMR documentation, and participation in team meetings. Bilingual Spanish/English and an accredited MA program are valued; CLIA license and BLS are required or

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting program required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.
• Obtain CLIA Office Laboratory Assistant License within 30 days of hire.
• Demonstrated proficiency with computer systems and software used in a clinical environment preferred.
• 2 years' experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
• Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)/Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Engage patients with a patient-centered approach and build rapport to support wellness goals.
• Room patients, take intake assessments, document vitals and visit information per rooming requirements.
• Administer medications, injections, and immunizations under a provider's supervision.
• Maintain a safe environment and document care in the EMR promptly and accurately.
• Support patient education, navigation, and follow-up by identifying barriers to care.
• Assist with training of medical assistants and externs.
• Communicate patient concerns to providers and participate in MA team meetings.
