Job summary

Mercyhealth in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin is seeking a Medical Assistant to room patients, collect assessment data, assist with examinations and routine clinic procedures, and help keep patient charts up to date.

The role supports scheduling, referrals, and basic lab tasks, while maintaining a welcoming, organized front to back clinic flow. ABHES/CAAHEP accredited training and CPR/BLS certification within 90 days are required, with clinical rotation experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of ABHES/CAAHEP accredited medical assistant program, or equivalent program.
• CPR/BLS certification required within 90 days.
• Clinical rotation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Rooms patients, collects assessment data and prepares patient for care.
• Assists in examination, treatment and clinic procedures.
• Assists with laboratory procedures, screening tests and QI projects.
• Answers telephone, triages or directs calls as needed.
• Schedules appointments and enters dates/times in the scheduler.
• Maintains and updates patient charts and records.
• Coordinates referrals and handles billing receipts.
