Job summary

Weil Foot & Ankle Institute in Harbour View, Virginia is seeking a Medical Assistant to work alongside the physician and assist with patient care, taking basic vital signs, preparing rooms, verifying patient information, and supporting in-office procedures. Experience: Medical Assistant certification with 2 years in healthcare position preferred; high school diploma or GED required.

Strong communication, organizational, and computer skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant certification with 2 years in healthcare preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required; higher education a plus.
• Strong critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision.
• Strong computer skills and use of Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of basic medical procedures such as dressing a wound
• Strong communication, active listening, and customer service skills
• Strong organizational and clerical skills to maintain patient files and perform office duties
• Knowledge of safety and sanitation procedures

Responsibilities

• Interview patients to gather medical history and update medical records
• Gather basic vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, height, weight, and pulse
• Prepare treatment rooms and patients for exam
• Sterilize instruments and set up in-office procedure trays
• Manage medical supplies and materials and work with their operational leader to order necessary inventory
• Take x-rays
• Medical Assistants will be cross trained to be able to cover front desk activities when needed
• Other duties are to support the physician and team with patient care activities.
