Qualifications

• Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with 160 hour externship.
• Or MA program with 1 year of clinical medical assisting in the past five years.
• Or current MA certification with at least 1 year of clinical experience.
• Or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
• Or EMT/Paramedic with 1 year clinical experience in ambulatory care.
• Must complete Ambulatory orientation per Henry Ford Health.

Responsibilities

• Escort patient to room and prepare for examination, procedure, and treatment.
• Obtain vital signs and record in the EHR.
• Obtain patient history using critical thinking.
• Prepare, set up, and assist with examinations, procedures, and treatments.
• Prepare, administer, and document medications and immunizations as ordered.
• Document care provided during patient visit in the EHR.
• Recognize and respond to emergencies.
• Respond to patient requests timely via phone or messaging and document in EHR.
• Enter orders in the EHR for provider sign-off.
• Discharge patient with after-visit instructions.
• Handle medication refills for provider review.
