Job summary

Responsibilities include scheduling, referrals, processing orders, handling patient communications, maintaining OSHA logs, restocking rooms, and aiding front/back office as needed; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Graduation from an accredited medical assistant program required.
• One year work related experience preferred.
• Current CPR certification required.
• Certified California Medical Assistant preferred.

Responsibilities

• Welcomes patients, visitors, physicians and staff in a warm, friendly and professional manner.
• Rooms patients upon arrival, documenting vital signs and chief complaint in the chart.
• Assists physicians with procedures and tests within the Medical Assistant Scope of Practice.
• Reviews patient charts two days prior to appointments for up-to-date referrals and test results.
• Orders outside testing, obtaining authorization and notifying patients of scheduled appointments.
• Handles prescription refill requests and obtains physician approval.
• Places orders approved by physician via calls or faxes.
• Responds to inquiries by phone or email by end of day.
• Completes doctor's disability reports and files them in charts.
• Assists in routing billing sheets to the appropriate location.
• Cleans and sterilizes instruments and maintains OSHA logs for compliance.
• Restocks patient rooms with supplies daily.
• Inventories and orders medical supplies as needed.
• Checks assigned physicians mail and notifies physicians of results and times.
• Sends new patient packets for new appointments.
• Provides back-up as instructed by office manager and/or physician.
• Handles medical records requests as needed.
• Promotes IHMG values to patients and customers.
