Job summary

Penn Medicine at Pennsylvania Hospital is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant for the Day Shift. The MA will support physicians and the practice manager, perform patient care tasks, specimen collection, and lab processing in a fast-paced clinical setting located at 800 Spruce St, Philadelphia.

Responsibilities include rooming patients, entering data in EMR, coordinating with specialists, and ensuring infection control and safety across the clinic.

Qualifications

• MA provides patient care through preparation, interviewing, technical tasks, and patient/family communication.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or MA certification is required.
• Phlebotomy and EKG may be performed per MD orders and training.
• Maintains infection control and safety in patient care areas.

Responsibilities

• Patient Care Accountabilities: room patients, document in EMR, review history, prepare for visits, coordinate nursing tasks.
• Specimen management: obtain specimens, perform tests, document results, and ensure QC.
• Clerical / Other Accountabilities: telephonic patient care and care coordination, gather visit documents, prepare correspondence.
• Environmental / Safety Accountabilities: adhere to infection control, stock supplies, maintain clean and safe patient areas.
• Other / Regulatory: comply with applicable regulatory standards and practice changes.
