Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians in delivering high-quality patient care while providing excellent customer service. You will assist with direct patient care, perform routine procedures, manage vaccines, and maintain accurate documentation and confidentiality.

The role requires a formal MA program or equivalent experience, BLS certification, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Graduate of a formal Medical Assistant training program of at least nine months or a minimum of three years MA experience in ambulatory care within last five years.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Ability to use a computer, scanner, EMR, and related software.

Responsibilities

Assist with direct patient care procedures and related tasks (lab tracking, data entry, chart prep).
Perform routine procedures (EKGs, rapid strep, urine dips, spirometry, nebulizer treatments).
Administer injections including vaccines and medications.
Educate and advise patients within established parameters.
Schedule and track STAT referrals and pre-authorizations.
Maintain vaccine refrigeration in line with DoH regulations.
Ensure confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
