Job summary

Hometown Urgent Care in Columbus, OH is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinicians and ensure efficient patient flow. You will take patient history, measure vitals, perform basic tests, and assist with exams and procedures.

Responsibilities include phlebotomy, documentation, injections, and point-of-care testing, while maintaining HIPAA privacy and sterile techniques. Travel to designated care centers may be required.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in a physician practice or clinic setting preferred.
• CPR certification required.
• Basic computer skills and EMR familiarity.
• Ability to work independently with professional judgment.
• Ability to travel to care centers within the designated region.

Responsibilities

• Take patient history and obtain vital signs.
• Perform basic testing or screenings (vision, audio, urine drug screens, breath alcohol, EKGs, pulmonary function testing).
• Perform phlebotomy for lab sample collection.
• Complete lab test paperwork accurately in the system.
• Administer injections and document per policy.
• Conduct point-of-care tests (strep, mono, glucose, influenza, pregnancy, urinalysis).
• Dispense and document medications and other treatments.
• Maintain sterile technique and sterilize equipment (autoclave).
• Schedule and coordinate patient records and referrals.
