Job summary

Ortho Rhode Island is seeking an Entry Level Medical Assistant to support patient care at our Providence, RI location. The role focuses on delivering personalized patient experiences and assisting providers with routine clinical tasks.

The successful candidate will have a high school diploma (or equivalent) and EMR experience; formal MA training or certification is preferred. This is a day-shift, full-time position with some travel between locations and a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• Formal training as a medical assistant or certification as a medical assistant (preferred).
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
• Any combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

Responsibilities

• Welcomes patients in person or by phone and answers or refers inquiries.
• Prepares patients for visits, escorts to exam rooms, provides gowns, arranges instruments and equipment.
• Assist providers by obtaining histories and vitals, preparing injections, setting up sterile fields, suture removal, dressing changes.
• Cast applications and DME applications as necessary.
• Verify patient records are complete and accurate for medical coding.
• Triage patient calls and physician messages.
• Maintain exam rooms with supplies and sterilization.
• Prepare patient charts before arrival; schedule follow-ups and MRI appointments.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and OSHA regulations.
• Other duties may be assigned.
