Job summary

Ortho Rhode Island ASC - Warwick, RI is seeking a Medical Assistant for a day shift to support a team delivering exceptional patient care. You will greet patients, prepare exam rooms, take histories and vitals, assist with injections, and help with scheduling and documentation.

  • Formal training as a medical assistant or certification preferred.
  • Any combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates ability to perform duties.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).

Responsibilities

  • Welcomes patients by greeting them, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries.
  • Prepares patients for health care visit by accompanying them to exam room and arranging room instruments.
  • Assist providers in treatment by obtaining histories and vitals, preparing injections, setting up sterile fields.
  • Cast applications and DME applications as necessary.
  • Verify patient’s medical record for completeness and accuracy for coding.
  • Triage patient calls and physician messages.
  • Maintain exam rooms with supplies and sterilization.
  • Prepare patient charts before arrival; schedule follow ups and MRI appointments.
  • Comply with HIPAA and OSHA regulations.

What you’ll do:

The purpose of the Medical Assistant is to provide a team-based approach to patient care and an exceptional patient experience. The Medical Assistant will emphasize highly personalized care and help patients surpass barriers to healthcare by improving the patient/provider relationship.

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Welcomes patients by greeting them, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquires
  • Prepares patients for the health care visit by accompanying them to exam room; providing exam gowns; arranging examining room instruments, supplies, and equipment
  • Assist providers in the treatment of patients by obtaining histories and vitals, preparing injections, setting up sterile fields, suture removal, dressing changes
  • Cast applications and DME applications as necessary
  • Verifying patient’s medical record is complete and accurate for medical coding purposes
  • Triage patient calls and physician messages
  • Maintain exams rooms with adequate medical supplies and sterilization as required
  • Preparing patient charts before patient arrival
  • Scheduling follow up appointments, initial therapy visits, and MRI appointments
  • Compliance with HIPAA and OSHA regulations
  • Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
