Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare in Virginia is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to support providers by managing patient flow, obtaining vitals, and performing clinical and clerical duties. You will document in the medical record and coordinate exams, treatments, and tests under supervision.

Requirements include CPR (AHA BLS) at hire, certification as a Medical Assistant or completion of a MA program with two years' experience, and an expected MA certification within 18 months.

Qualifications

• Certified Medical Assistant is required at hire.
• If hired without certification, must have completed a MA training program or have two years of MA experience.
• Must obtain Medical Assistant certification within 18 months of hire.
• AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire.
• Minimum of 2 years’ prior experience providing clinical support in a medical office setting preferred.
• Electronic Medical Records experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms.
• Reviews patient charts to ensure required reports are available.
• Obtains and documents patient vitals.
• Assists providers with examinations, procedures and treatments.
• Draws blood and/or assists in obtaining specimens.
• Prepares and routes specimens to laboratories; verifies insurance.
• Documents activities and patient responses in the medical record.
• Communicates with patients regarding provider instructions.
• Schedules future appointments, surgeries or testing.
