Job summary

NorthShore University HealthSystem in Skokie, IL is seeking a Medical Assistant/Patient Support Assistant to join our physician practice. This full-time role (40 hours per week) runs Monday to Friday 8:00am–5:00pm and may require travel to other locations.

You will handle phones, scheduling, registrations, co-pay collections, insurance verification, and front-office support. Prior medical office experience is preferred; CPR is required, MA certification preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assisting program preferred but not required.
• CPR certification through the American Heart Association required; MA certification preferred but not required.
• One year of work experience required; prior medical office experience preferred; on-the-job training available.

Responsibilities

• Answer phones.
• Schedule appointments.
• Collect co-payments.
• Complete patient registration.
• Provide other administrative support to the physician practice.
• Check in and check out patients.
• Verify insurances.
• Greet patients and escort them to exam room.
• Document vital signs, allergies, medications, and reason for the visit.
• Provide front office support as needed.
• Perform basic vitals (BP, height, weight).
• Phlebotomy and injections may be required.
