Job summary

Optum is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our Pacific West team in California. In this clinical role, you will work with health care professionals to deliver direct patient care, document encounters, and support daily clinic operations.

You will assist with injections, EKGs, and phlebotomy, while ensuring accurate EMR records and proper infection control. Bilingual English/Spanish and 1+ year MA experience are preferred; a Medical Assistant program completion is required.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Medical Assistant program.
• BLS certification from AHA or willing to obtain by date of hire.
• 1+ years of experience working as a Medical Assistant.

Responsibilities

• Delivers high-quality patient care through face-to-face, telephone, and electronic contact for examinations, treatment, monitoring, and prep for diagnostic tests or procedures.
• Collects and documents patient information including vital signs, allergies, medications, and health risk screening details.
• Assists physicians and nursing staff with injections, EKGs, phlebotomy, and other patient care tasks as directed.
• Coordinates patient care as directed by physicians, company standards, and policies.
• Documents all actions and communications, both verbally and in EMR/paper records.
• Prepares and cleans patient rooms, sets up instruments and equipment, and maintains infection control.
