Job summary

Dallas Center United Methodist is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians in a clinic environment. You will perform routine clinical tasks, educate patients, and ensure proper documentation within patient charts.

The role requires graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program, CPR certification, and 2+ years of experience preferred. You will handle patient history, vitals, injections, and Rx refills while maintaining infection control standards.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants.
• 2+ years of professional medical assisting in a practice setting preferred.
• National/Registered Medical Assistant Certification or certification obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Valid CPR certification.
• Requires full range of body motion including lifting patients and dexterity; extensive standing and walking; exposure to infectious agents.

Responsibilities

• Maintains strict patient confidentiality and discretion when discussing patient information.
• Implement patient care under the guidance of physicians and office staff.
• Screen calls during triage under physician supervision; triage decisions referred to a physician.
• Administer intramuscular, intradermal, or subcutaneous injections with proper documentation.
• Assist physicians and medical staff in providing nursing care per clinic policies.
• Take patient history and vital signs.
• Check for expired medications monthly and document disposal.
• Unpack and maintain medical supplies and vaccines; keep supply closet organized.
• Assist with Rx refills via Fax, E-Rx, or phone and update patient medication module.
• Demonstrate infection control knowledge and maintain QA for autoclave; disinfect instruments.
