Job summary

Ochsner Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide individualized care to patients in person, electronically and via telephone under supervision. You will support both patients and providers, ensure visits are prepared, and maintain essential clinical documentation.

The role requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and completion of a medical assistant training program, with BLS certification as a plus.

Qualifications

• Preferred completing a formal medical assistant training program.
• Experience handling confidential information in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Supports the patient and provider throughout the patient visit.
• Ensures the patient and provider are prepared for the visit.
• Provides patient service through effective communication over the phone and in person.
• Completes appropriate documentation including patient registration if necessary.
• Maintains clinical knowledge, skills, training and credentials.
