Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• BLS through American Heart Association required.
• Preferred: Certified or Registered Medical Assistant from a recognized program.
• One year experience as a Medical Assistant or EMT preferred.
• Completion of Medical Assisting Program/Trade/Technical School.
• EMT program completion may require pharmacology coursework.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients' physical, psychosocial, cultural and spiritual needs and report to the provider for optimal outcomes.
• Perform clinical tasks such as vital signs, procedures, preventive services, previsit planning and postvisit follow-up; manage patient flow.
• Contribute to patient care planning with the interdisciplinary team and identify barriers to participation.
• Complete Medical Assistant Core Skills and any specialty competencies per Scope of Practice.
• Maintain confidential patient charts and records, including importing and communicating scanned documents.
• Document ongoing status, interventions, patient response and outcomes accurately and timely.
