Job summary

Jersey Community Hospital is seeking a Medical Assistant (MA) to support patient care under the direction of a physician or licensed provider. The MA will greet patients, schedule appointments, take vital signs, update medical histories, and assist with exams and procedures while ensuring accurate documentation in the medical record.

Responsibilities include administering medications, immunizations, wound care, and helping with clinical procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical assistant certification required. Registration is preferred.
• Current CPR certification is required.
• Related experience preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient with computer systems and electronic medical records.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients, schedule appointments, manage calls, verify patient information, and collect payments.
• Record vital signs including BP, weight, height, heart rate, temperature, respiration, and O2 saturation.
• Update patient medical history including weight changes, surgeries, medications, diagnoses, allergies, and family history.
• Apply the nursing process—assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation—within standards of care.
• Perform nursing tasks such as administering medications, providing immunizations, wound care, and assisting with procedures under supervision.
• Prepare for and assist with clinical procedures, including instrument prep, labeling, wound care, suture removal, and immunizations.
