Job summary

Nebraska Methodist Health System is seeking a skilled Medical Assistant for the Methodist Physicians Clinic - Regency location in Omaha, NE. Work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm.

You will assist physicians, phlebotomize when needed, manage orders, and support patient education and care in a fast-paced clinic environment. Responsibilities include room preparation, patient intake, lab tests, and coordinating tests and appointments.

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved Medical Assistant Program is required.
• Externship or preceptorship in a clinical setting is required or currently enrolled nursing students may apply.
• Transcripts must be provided indicating classes have been passed.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology and patient care protocols.

Responsibilities

• Documents all lab procedures and appointments on tracking forms.
• Completes tracking forms and follows up on missed appointments and procedures.
• Assists Health Coaches by scheduling patient appointments as directed.
• Educates patients per provider direction and recommends community resources as needed.
• Perform telephone triage to assess patient needs and relay information to providers.
• Maintain clean, organized work areas and manage supplies.
• Handle prescription renewals/inquiries and relay information to pharmacy.
• Provide age-appropriate care per Age Specific Criteria; complete related quizzes annually.
• Prepares exam rooms and equipment; assists with examinations and vital signs.
• Assist providers by retrieving tests, records, and lab work as directed.
• Dispense medications under provider direction and instruct patients/families.
• Order and schedule tests as directed and ensure accurate order entry.
