Job summary

Mercy Health | GoHealth Urgent Care is seeking a Medical Assistant to support providers, radiologic staff, and patients. The role includes patient care, registration, care coordination, and front desk responsibilities in a fast-paced urgent care setting.

The ideal candidate will have MA program training, BLS certification, and relevant experience, with a focus on accurate documentation and compassionate patient interaction.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program preferred.
• 1+ years of Medical Assistant experience under a licensed healthcare supervisor within the last 3 years preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology strongly preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required at the time of hire (ARC or AHA).

Responsibilities

• Register patients and secure required paperwork and insurance documentation.
• Process co-pays and schedule patient appointments for the center.
• Coordinate provider referrals to specialists.
• Answer patient questions and keep them informed of patient status.
• Prepare patients for examination and record medical history.
• Perform point-of-care testing (e.g., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG) as needed.
• Stock supplies and maintain exam rooms and reception area.
• Maintain medical records and scan charts to patient files.
• Answer calls and conduct courtesy follow-ups for patient care.
