Job summary

Valor Healthcare in East LA is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join the Community Based Outpatient Clinic. You will provide prescribed medical care and personal assistance to patients, collaborating with the PACT team and supporting daily clinic operations.

The role emphasizes patient service, lab specimen collection, phlebotomy, ECGs, scheduling, and VA guideline compliance. English proficiency and strong computer skills are required; VA experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Diploma or certificate of an accredited MA program; phlebotomy certification preferred.
• Two years of MA experience in primary or ambulatory care; VA experience preferred.
• Must hold an unrestricted license/credential as required by VA contract or state rules.
• BLS certification (ACLS as required by VA contract) and current credentials.
• Strong English communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care, examinations, and basic procedures.
• Schedule clinic appointments and manage the Electronic Wait List.
• Answer phones and relay messages promptly.
• Collect lab specimens (urine, blood, sputum) for testing.
• Operate ECG and other diagnostic equipment per protocol.
• Ensure compliance with OIG, JC, EOC, and related VA requirements.
• Support patient enrollment, outreach, and clinic enrollment initiatives.
