Job summary

Akron Children's Hospital is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to provide clinical and administrative support for patients under the direction of a Provider and/or licensed Nurse. Onsite in Independence Township, OH.

Responsibilities include taking vitals, venipuncture, data collection, lab specimen handling, and patient communication. Proficiency with EPIC and Microsoft Office is required; BLS certification is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an approved Medical Assistant, EMT, or Paramedic program required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; MA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examination; take and record vital signs; perform phlebotomy as directed.
• Collect data for assessment and discharge planning under supervision of licensed staff.
• Collect, process, and submit laboratory specimens per policy.
• Communicate patient findings to Providers/Nurses with proper documentation.
• Document care accurately in the EPIC system.
• Assist with scheduling, visit preparation, and patient tracking as needed.
• Perform clinical duties such as POCT and screenings; assist with routine office tasks.
• Maintain clean, stocked examination rooms; develop positive relationships with patients and families.
• Follow safety policies to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
• Attend to other duties as assigned.
