Job summary

Community Health Network in Fishers, IN is seeking a Medical Assistant to support ambulatory site providers, facilitate patient visits, perform routine labs, and assist with referrals and quality outcomes. The role involves cross-location coverage across Fishers clinics.

This float position requires teamwork, strong communication, and the ability to maintain an efficient patient flow; EPIC EMR experience and POC testing may be involved, with clinics open Monday–Friday 7a–6pm.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills are required.
• Graduate/certificate of completion from a recognized medical assisting program OR HS diploma/GED + 1 year MA experience in a physician practice in the past 3 years.
• Medical Assistant certification required within 6 months of hire.
• Prepare exam rooms, stock supplies, and manage patient flow.

Responsibilities

• Assist the provider with patient visits and procedures in ambulatory sites.
• Obtain vital signs, EKGs, and specimen collection as needed.
• Document care in the EPIC EMR system and process referrals/refills.

The Medical Assistant will be responsible for assisting the provider of an ambulatory health care site with facilitation of patient visit and procedures, routine laboratory tests, referrals, and quality outcomes for the population of the practice. As an MA, you will also get to actively participate in Network quality initiatives regarding best practices.

Exceptional Skills and Qualifications

• Applicants for this position should be able to collaborate with others in a team setting, have excellent communication skills, and a positive attitude toward problem-solving.
• Graduate/certificate of completion from a recognized medical assisting program OR a High School Diploma/GED + one year of medical assistant experience in a physician practice within the past three years.
• Medical Assistant certification required within 6 months of hire
• Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas for patient use including required cleaning and stocking of supplies
• Room patients and manage an efficient flow of provider's caseload
• Obtain necessary vital signs, EKGs, and/or specimen collection
• Documentation of care using the EPIC EMR system
• Perform Point of Care Testing based on patient's chief complaint and available protocols
• Process referrals and medication refills
• Maintain positive relationships with patients, providers, and staff

This is a float position between multiple Fishers locations. Days and hours will vary. Clinics are open Monday-Friday 7a-6pm.
