You serve as a crucial link between patient and physician, ensuring proper tests are administered and results accurately reported. Your care, competency, and attention to detail reinforce the Legacy mission of making life better for others.

The Medical Assistant I – Clinics is responsible for assisting with patient care, maintaining department/clinic efficiency, and other duties as assigned. Participates as a member of the healthcare team under the direction of a physician, supporting daily operations.

This is a temporary position starting in March and continuing through at least June 2025.

Responsibilities
  1. Prepares patients and rooms for exams and procedures.
  2. Performs basic laboratory testing, point-of-care testing, phlebotomy, and other quality controls.
  3. Administers medications as directed by physician/nurse practitioner, per site operations.
  4. Assists physician/nurse practitioner with exams and procedures.
  5. Performs procedures within scope of practice.
  6. Accurately documents medical information in patient records.
  7. Tracks and routes test results to physicians/nurse practitioners for review and files results appropriately.
  8. Communicates test results with patients when appropriate.
  9. Facilitates patient care activities, including scheduling tests, reinforcing education, and performing triage as directed.
  10. Maintains inventory of supplies.
  11. Demonstrates professional behavior according to standards.
  12. Uses telephone communication effectively and appropriately.
  13. Uses electronic health records proficiently for documentation and communication.
  14. Processes orders accurately.
  15. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Experience: Experience as a back-office medical assistant in a clinic setting; 1 year preferred.

Education (choose one):

  • Completion of a medical assistant program or equivalent experience.
  • Completion of a formal medical services training program of the U.S. Armed Forces.
  • For Oregon only: Completion of Basic Oregon Emergency Medical Technician program.
  • For Oregon only: Completion of Advanced Oregon Emergency Medical Technician program.

Licensure

Washington and Oregon: Current American Heart Association CPR certification required.

MA certification required within one year of hire from AAMA, AMT, NCCT, or NHA; AAMA preferred. Certification upon hire is preferred. May be required upon hire depending on department needs.

Oregon only: MA certification can be met by current Oregon EMT license (Basic or Advanced) and NREMT registration.

Washington only: Certification as a Medical Assistant-Certified or Interim required, including Washington AIDS training.

Pay Range

USD $22.97 - USD $32.84 per hour.
