Job summary

Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women and Children, part of Hawaii Pacific Health, seeks a Medical Assistant to support care for women, infants and children at our pediatric specialty center on Oahu. The role requires completion of a Medical Assistant program, CMA or equivalent certifications, and current BLS CPR certification.

The position is part-time, regular, 0.8 FTE, with day shifts in Honolulu, HI, offering a competitive pay range and a supportive Teamsters bargaining unit environment.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent with Medical Assistant Program completion.
• CMA or equivalent certification listed (ABR-OE, RMA, NCMA, NRCMA, CMAC, CCMA).
• Current American Heart Association BLS CPR and ability to complete competency assessment by orientation.

Job description

Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children is Hawai'i's only maternity, newborn and pediatric specialty hospital. It is well recognized as Hawai'i's leader in the care of women, infants and children. With 253 beds, the not-for-profit hospital delivers 6,000 babies a year, and is also a medical teaching and research facility. Specialty services for patients throughout Hawai'i and the Pacific Region include intensive care for infants and children, 24-hour emergency pediatric and adult care, critical care air transport and high-risk perinatal care. Over 1,400 employees and more than 700 physicians provide specialty care at Kapi'olani. The hospital is home to the Kapi'olani Women's Center and the Women's Cancer Center, and offers numerous community programs and services, such as specialty pediatric clinics, the Kapi'olani Child Protection Center and the Sex Abuse Treatment Center.

The Kapi'olani Children's Specialty Center offers comprehensive medical care for children and young adults on Oahu, Maui, Molokai and the Big Island of Hawai'i with complex medical problems ranging from developmental and behavioral difficulties to neurological disorders. The Center was developed to meet the needs of young people and to assist families in caring for them. The Center is staffed by a highly specialized team of medical professionals, each experienced in pediatrics and working with families, and in using evidence-based practice in multidisciplinary health care.

As the Medical Assistant, you will form part of the dedicated team of physicians and medical staff that provide caring, thorough health services to our patients and their families at the Pediatric Specialty Center. In this role, you will perform a wide variety of patient care activities to clients of all ages. Minimum Qualifications

High school or equivalent. Completion of a Medical Assistant Program and/or equivalent experience. Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), OR Assessment Based Recognition in Order Entry (ABR-OE)from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), OR Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from the American Medical Technologist (AMT), OR Nationally Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) from the National Center for Competency testing (NCCT), OR Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from American Registry of Medical Assistants, OR Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) from National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), OR Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) from the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA), OR Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) from the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR Card. Must Be able to complete departmental competency assessment by conclusion of orientation period.

Preferred Experience

Six (6) months medical assistant experience OR completion of HPH Medical Assistant Program knowledge of Classification Procedural Terminology (CPT) and/or International Classification of Disease (ICD-10) Coding. Experience with electronic medical records
