Job summary

Mass General Brigham Community Physicians, Inc. seeks a Medical Assistant to support orthopedic care at two locations in Massachusetts. You will welcome patients, collect vitals, assist clinicians, and help maintain smooth clinic operations.

This hands-on role requires 1–2 years of MA experience, BLS if available, and ability to obtain blood samples and vital signs. Proficiency with EHR software and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
  • 1–2 years direct Medical Assistant experience or related medical field.
  • Prior hands-on orthopedic casting experience required.
  • Basic Life Support certification preferred.
  • National Medical Assistant certification preferred.
  • Ability to obtain vital signs and collect blood or specimens; knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients, escort to exam rooms, prepare equipment, and support patient flow.
  • Interview patients, collect and document medical information, and obtain vitals (BP, height, weight).
  • Assist providers with clinical care and reinforce treatment instructions.
  • Collect, label, log, and prepare blood/tissue specimens; perform phlebotomy when competent.
  • Administer immunizations when applicable and allowed.
  • Maintain immunization inventory and monitor expirations.
  • Support junior Medical Assistants with onboarding and training.
  • Handle office duties: phones, forms, and coordinating with departments; help patients navigate care.
  • Contribute to quality and safety initiatives, including hand hygiene and patient identification.
