Job summary

Baptist Health Orthopedics is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide direct patient care and clinical support in our Elizabethtown outpatient clinic.

You will obtain vital signs, reconcile medications, collect patient history, and help manage patient flow while using EPIC EMR for scheduling and documentation. After training, you may perform EKGs, phlebotomy, injections, and other procedures as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; 1+ year MA experience in a medical office or clinic.
• Or graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program with hands-on patient care.
• Completion of MA orientation and clinical competency assessment; those not meeting standards will join trainee program.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and clinical support in an outpatient clinic.
• Obtain vital signs and reconcile medications.
• Collect patient history and document in the EMR.
• Schedule appointments; process medication requests and prior authorizations.
• Coordinate tests and procedures; manage referrals and test scheduling.
• May perform EKGs, laboratory tests, injections, and phlebotomy after competency.

Experience must include direct, hands-on patient care in a clinical setting, such as obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing clinical procedures (e.g. EKG’s, phlebotomy, administering injections or vaccines).* **Or** Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program, that includes hands on patient experience as part of the curriculum, required.* Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation.
