Job summary

Baptist Health is seeking a Medical Assistant for BHMG Neurosurgery - Paducah. Position requires on-site presence with travel based on business needs and a retention bonus for eligible new hires. Responsibilities include vital signs, patient history, and EMR management (EPIC).

Role may involve EKGs, lab tests, injections, and phlebotomy after competency. Strong communication and organization are essential to support providers.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1+ year of Medical Assistant experience in a clinic setting with direct patient care.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program with hands-on patient experience.
• Clinical competency assessment upon hire; MA orientation completion required.
• Basic computer skills; EMR experience a plus.
• BLS from American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.
• BAT and DOT certifications required within 90 days (Occupational Medicine).
• Preferred: CMA/AAMA/AMT/NCCT/NHA certification or RN/LPN licensure.

Responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs and document patient history.
• Reconcile medications and document in patient records.
• Assist with patient flow and scheduling.
• Manage EPIC EMR and coordinate tests/procedures.
• Process medication requests and prior authorizations.
• Perform clinical tasks such as EKGs, phlebotomy, injections when competent.

Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant provides direct patient care and clinical support within an outpatient clinic. Responsibilities include obtaining vital signs, reconciling medications, collecting patient history, and facilitating patient flow.

Additional duties involve managing the electronic health record (EPIC), scheduling appointments, processing medication requests, handling prior authorizations, and coordinating tests and procedures. Upon successful completion of clinical competency, the role may also require performing EKGs, lab tests, injections, and/or phlebotomy.

Strong communication and organizational skills are essential to ensure efficient patient care and support for providers. This role requires regular on-site presence to perform the essential job functions.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency




• 1+ year(s) of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office, clinic or similar setting required. Experience must include direct, hands-on patient care in a clinical setting, such as obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing clinical procedures (e.g. EKG's, phlebotomy, administering injections or vaccines).




• Or Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program, that includes hands on patient experience as part of the curriculum, required.




• Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation. Those who do not meet the required standards will be enrolled in the Medical Assistant Trainee Program for further development and evaluation.




• Basic computer skills, experience with EMR System a plus.




• Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.




• BAT and DOT certifications required for Medical Assistants in Occupational Medicine within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications for a Certified Medical Assistant:

• Current Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, or AAMP.




• Or graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program with current unrestricted licensure.




• Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation. Those who do not meet the required standards will be enrolled in the Medical Assistant Trainee Program for further development and evaluation.

Travel Requirements:

Travel may be required for this position based on staffing and operational needs. Travel frequency may increase or decrease based on business needs. Flexibility to travel as needed to support clinic operations and patient care needs is required.
