Job summary

BayCare’s Tampa St Josephs Physician Practice – Med Office is seeking a Medical Assistant or LPN to support clinical operations and deliver high-quality patient care in a busy practice.

As part of BayCare, you will assist providers, obtain histories, perform routine labs, maintain EMRs, and ensure OSHA/CLIA compliance while contributing to efficient workflows and patient experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Preferred: Medical Assistant program or related training.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant externship strengthens application.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments.
• Obtain patient histories and prepare patients for visits.
• Perform routine lab procedures and prepare specimens for transport to the lab.
• Follow up on test orders and communicate results to providers and patients.
• Create and update patient records in the EMR.
• Maintain medical equipment and clinical supplies.
• Ensure OSHA and CLIA compliance.

Role Overview

As a Medical Assistant or LPN, you will support clinical operations by assisting providers and delivering high-quality patient care while ensuring efficient workflows within the practice.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assisting providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments
• Obtaining patient histories and preparing patients for visits
• Performing routine lab procedures and preparing specimens for transport to the lab
• Following up on test orders and communicating results to providers and patients
• Creating and updating patient records in the electronic medical record (EMR)
• Maintaining medical equipment and clinical supplies
• Ensuring compliance with OSHA and CLIA regulations
• Performing other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education

Required:

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)

Preferred:

• Completion of a Medical Assistant program or related technical training

Experience

Preferred:

Licensure / Certification

Required:

• Approved Medical Assistant Certification within six (6) months of hire OR proof of active license/certification as one of the following:
  • EMT (Emergency Medical Technician)
  • NREMT (Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician)
  • Paramedic
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
