Job summary

BayCare in St. Petersburg, FL is seeking a Medical Assistant or LPN to support clinical operations at the Carillon Outpatient Center. This full-time, onsite role features dayshift with a 4x10 schedule from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

You will perform patient care, assist providers, handle basic lab tasks, manage EMR records, and ensure OSHA/CLIA compliance. Must have HS diploma; MA certification within 6 months or active licensure (EMT/NREMT/Paramedic/LPN). Competitive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must obtain Medical Assistant Certification within 6 months of hire or have an active license/certification (EMT, NREMT, Paramedic, or LPN).
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Preferred: completion of a Medical Assistant program.
• Preferred: Medical Assistant experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers with patient examinations, procedures and treatments.
• Obtain patient histories and prepare patients for visits.
• Perform routine lab procedures and prepare specimens for transport to the lab.
• Follow up on test orders and communicate results to providers and patients.
• Maintain patient education materials and update EMR.
• Maintain medical equipment and clinical supplies.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and CLIA regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Role Overview

As a Medical Assistant or LPN, you will support clinical operations by assisting providers and delivering high-quality patient care while ensuring efficient workflows within the practice.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assisting providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments
• Obtaining patient histories and preparing patients for visits
• Performing routine lab procedures and preparing specimens for transport to the lab
• Following up on test orders and communicating results to providers and patients
• Maintaining patient education materials
• Creating and updating patient records in the electronic medical record (EMR)
• Maintaining medical equipment and clinical supplies
• Ensuring compliance with OSHA and CLIA regulations
• Performing other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education

Required:

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)

Preferred:

• Completion of a Medical Assistant program or related technical training

Experience

Preferred:

• Medical Assistant experience

Licensure / Certification

Required:

• Approved Medical Assistant Certification within six (6) months of hire OR proof of active license/certification as one of the following:
  • EMT (Emergency Medical Technician)
  • NREMT (Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician)
  • Paramedic
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
