Job summary

Harris Regional Medical Center in Sylva, NC is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our busy oncology office, Monday–Friday, 8a–5p. You will support providers with patient assessments, treatments, and administrative duties in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
• Previous medical office experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient assessments and treatments under provider supervision.
• Perform basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection; monitor patient condition.
• Document patient care and maintain examination areas.
• Maintain equipment and medical supplies; stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
• Perform administrative duties including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry and patient registration.
• Obtain prior authorizations for imaging including CT/MRI.
• Data entry into the EMR system.
• Complete other tasks as delegated by leads or Market Director.

Join our team of healthcare professionals in an office that provides comprehensive care services to adults. These services includes New Patients, Follow Up patients in a very busy office setting of radiation oncology. We are committed to providing personalized and high-quality healthcare in a friendly and welcoming environment.

How you'll contribute

A Medical Assistant who excels in this role:

• Under the supervision of provider, assists with performing patient assessments and treatments.
• Performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection. Monitors and communication regarding changes in patient condition.
• Documents patient care given.
• Maintains examination areas.
• Maintains equipment and medical supplies, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
• Perform administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration.
• Prior authorizations for imaging including CT/MRI
• Data entry into EMR system
• Completes other tasks, within scope of position, as delegated by the practice leads, supervisors, managers or Market Director.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent. Additional requirements include:

• Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS), within 90 days of hire.
• Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent, required
• Previous medical office experience, preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, preferred.
