Job summary

Harris Regional Medical Center in Sylva, NC, is seeking a Medical Assistant to support providers in a busy pain management office. The role focuses on patient care, assisting with procedures, and ensuring smooth daily operations.

This is a full-time position with a Monday–Friday, 8a–5p schedule. You will perform patient assessments, collect specimens, document care, maintain exam areas and equipment, and handle administrative duties.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Experience in a medical office preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of the provider, assists with patient assessments and treatments.
  • Performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection; monitors and communicates changes in patient condition.
  • Documents patient care provided.
  • Maintains examination areas.
  • Maintains equipment and medical supplies, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
  • Performs administrative duties: filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration.
  • Completes other tasks as delegated by the practice leads, supervisors, managers or Market Director.

Join our team of healthcare professionals in an office that provides pain management services. We are a busy chronic pain management office that leans more toward interventional treatments than medication. Our patients are primarily adults managing long-term pain conditions. The Medical Assistant will support providers with patient care, assist with procedures, and ensure efficient daily operations. We are looking for someone who takes initiative, pays close attention to detail, and works well within a team-oriented environment. How you'll contribute

A Medical Assistant who excels in this role:

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent. Additional requirements include:

  • Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS), within 90 days of hire.
  • Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent, required
  • Previous medical office experience, preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, preferred.
