Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Medical assistant diploma or 2 years of medical assistant experience, or certified MA with 2 years of medical assistant experience
• Phlebotomy skills preferred
• Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently
• Must be able to lift and support 35 pounds
• Must be able to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present
• Functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch, with fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures
• Ability to maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines
• Ability to perform physical safety interventions and verbal de-escalation if needed
• Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment when exposed to hazardous materials, blood, body fluids, or communicable disease

• Welcome patients and support their transition into care
• Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and health screenings
• Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during procedures
• Administer medications and vaccines as directed
• Perform specimen collection and point-of-care testing
• Document care accurately in the electronic health record
• Partner with physicians, nurses, and teammates to deliver coordinated care
• Work Monday through Friday, 8:0 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
• Travel weekly to South Suburban Hospital and rarely to Trinity Hospital for coverage
