Hawaii Pacific Health’s Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women and Children in Honolulu is seeking a Medical Assistant to join a team delivering obstetric, pediatric and women’s health care. The on-site Day shift/Full Time Regular position supports 253 beds and cares for thousands of patients annually.

Minimum qualifications include a Medical Assistant Program (or equivalent), CMA/ABR-OE/RMA/NCMA/NRCMA/CMAC/CCMA credentials and BLS CPR. Competitive rewards are offered.

Job description

Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children is Hawai'i’s only maternity, newborn and pediatric specialty hospital. It is well recognized as Hawai'i’s leader in the care of women, infants and children. With 253 beds, the not-for-profit hospital delivers 6,000 babies a year, and is also a medical teaching and research facility. Specialty services for patients throughout Hawai'i and the Pacific Region include intensive care for infants and children, 24-hour emergency pediatric and adult care, critical care air transport and high-risk perinatal care. Over 1,400 employees and more than 700 physicians provide specialty care at Kapi'olani. The hospital is home to the Kapi'olani Women’s Center and the Women’s Cancer Center, and offers numerous community programs and services, such as specialty pediatric clinics, the Kapi'olani Child Protection Center and the Sex Abuse Treatment Center.

The Kapi‘olani Women's OB/GYN Outpatient Clinic offers complete obstetrical and gynecological care for women and is one of the most comprehensive centers for women’s health in Hawai‘i. Services include obstetrical care, pre‑pregnancy counseling, medical, dietary and social service counseling, pregnancy testing, prenatal and high‑risk prenatal care, counseling and postpartum follow‑up care, referral services, infertility diagnostics and treatment, family planning, annual physical exams and pap smears, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases, birth control methods, routine gynecologic exams, evaluation for and scheduling of gynecologic surgeries, cyst biopsy and removal, nutritional counseling, and endocrine and teen clinics, among others.

As the Medical Assistant, you will join the dedicated team of physicians and medical staff that provide caring, thorough health services to our patients and their families. In this role, you will perform a wide variety of patient care activities to clients of all ages. Minimum Qualifications: High school or equivalent. Completion of a Medical Assistant Program and/or equivalent experience. Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), OR Assessment Based Recognition in Order Entry (ABR-OE)from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), OR Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from the American Medical Technologist (AMT), OR Nationally Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) from the National Center for Competency testing (NCCT), OR Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from American Registry of Medical Assistants, OR Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) from National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), OR Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) from the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA), OR Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) from the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR Card. Must Be able to complete departmental competency assessment by conclusion of orientation period.

Preferred Experience: Six (6) months medical assistant experience OR completion of HPH Medical Assistant Program knowledge of Classification Procedural Terminology (CPT) and/or International Classification of Disease (ICD-10) Coding. Experience with electronic medical records.
